Introduction: Who am I?

 Hi,

I am a young aspiring author who accidently created a whole world.

I am 17, and have loved books since the first time I read The Chronicles of Narnia when I was about ten. Reading those books took me into a whole new world, with all sorts of wonderful creatures and characters, and everything became magical to me; the trees came alive, animals could (maybe) talk, and magic was waiting around every corner. I loved Narnia so much, I wanted to create my very own world just like it and write stories about it.

After much daydreaming and magic-hunting in my backyard, I decided to call my world Eridan. That name has stuck until very recently, when I found out that Eridan, or Eridanus, is a river in Greek mythology. After some more daydreaming (and googling this time) I came to the name of Riadain, which isn't the name of a river, person, or place - at least not that Google knows of.

Many stories were dreamed about Eridan with many warriors, princesses and centaurs (I really like centaurs). Some stories I tried to write down but they never made much sense and were always scrapped or deleted after a few days. One story I managed to finish; an actual book full of dramatic action scenes and quirky characters, and then I realised it sucked, had no plot and was terribly written. There are no traces of that story anywhere on this earth.

Then came the age of centaurs (again, I really like centaurs) in which Eridan was split into the Four Realms. With that story came battles, sibling rivalries, and star-reading magicians. But the plot was basically King Arthur, and I lost interest in it after a while. AND, (Take my word for it I'm not lying) this was around the time that Nutcracker movie came out which was literally titled: The Nutcracker and The Four Realms. I got really upset about that, and the centaur story was forgotten.

After reading books like Artemis Fowl and Alex Rider, I tried writing stories that were not based in Eridan. They were all discarded and forgotten. And then The Lord of The Rings was discovered, and I had a new world to love and obsess over (I still do). That gave me new inspiration, but nothing ever came of it, and I stopped writing stories. Until recently, when a short story produced a whole 30 chapter book.

In January, a guy on a group chat suggested we have a short story writing challenge. I heartily accepted, and the prompt of 'Troll' was chosen. My Tolkien and Lewis infused brain immediately produced a story with a hunter encountering a forest troll. This was the first story I had written in perhaps two years. Everyone liked it, and I loved writing it. And so I thought to myself: if I enjoyed it so much, why not try writing a book again? No pressure, just something as a hobby.

Dear reader, it wasn't a hobby.

Soon, I had my story-plan all mapped out. I had sequel ideas and trilogy ideas and notebooks full of worldbuilding. I made languages, cultures, and kingdoms, and in two months I had finished a book - the book I had been trying to write for years. It's in the process of editing at the moment, but I'm still so shocked at the fact that I had written a book. My childhood dream had come true.

But, while I had wanted to become a world famous author and have movies made of my books, my dreams have changed. I don't want to be famous - I want to share my world with others. I want to show them this beautiful thing I have made, and give them a world to escape into like I escaped into Narnia.

So this is what this blog is for: To share my world with you. To show you how it works, what it looks like, and what you'll find inside it. Even though I'm still editing the book, Riadain has already been created, and on this blog you will find all the details about it so that you too can find another world to escape into.
